Energy savingSince electric motors account for nearly 70% of the electricity used by industry, motorised applications constitute an important source of potential savings.With the benefit of its experience in improving the efficiency of electric motors, geared motors and variable speed, Leroy-Somer has costed the potential energy savings. The result is striking: improving the efficiency of fixed-speed motors can achieve 10% of the overall energy-saving potential whereas with variable speed, more than 30% of the total potential can be achieved!!! The remaining 60% potential savings are rarely considered. It is usually a matter of, in partnership with the machine builder customer, optimising the mechanical system for the whole drive mechanism application.
