Wind Turbines

Leroy-Somer has applied its expertise in rotating electrical machines to the wind energy sector since the mid-1980s.

It enables us to design and manufacture high-powered asynchronous and synchronous generators (up to 5 MW).

Our design centre in France designs machines for customers that are specially tailored to their needs, prioritising compactness and performance in the design.


To support its customers in different regions of the globe Leroy-Somer has established factories in Eastern Europe, China, India and North America. Each site is capable of guaranteeing the quality and repeatability of the generators produced.


In addition to generators, Leroy-Somer is also a major player in the design and manufacture of tower crane orientation systems. This combination of know-how and wealth of experience explains Leroy-Somer's increasing share in the market for special application drive systems for wind turbine auxiliary equipment: pitch, yaw, ventilation of the nacelle, the generator cooling circuit, gearbox lubrication pump, etc.
